It's Official!

Wow- it's really happening!! I can hardly believe it. I turned in all my money on October 1st. I am so amazed by how much I was able to raise for this trip! What a blessing! I seriously was not going to be able to do it alone, and thankfully a ton of my friends and family gave! I'm SOO thankful to everyone that donated!

I am getting really excited for my trip. I can't believe it's less than two months away! Whew. Time has flown by. Now the tough part is over (fundraising), and I can just look forward to the excitement of the trip.

We are going to put on a HUGE Christmas party, for over 2000 widows and orphans. CRAZY right? I am so excited. Our budget for the Christmas party (gifts, clothing, and food for 2000) is close to 150K. I was completely overwhelmed. I've never been a part of a church that gives so much (obviously it's because they are HUGE 5000+ a week) and consider myself really lucky to be a part of it.

In other news, I started volunteering with another church initiative, Generosity Water. Check it out online: www.generositywater.com. It's an amazing organization/division of Oasis, where we are eliminating the clean water crisis in Africa. Did you know that 1.1 billion people in this world do NOT have access to clean drinking water. Scary right? What G.W. does, is we sell bottles of water for $2 each, and 100% of the profits go to build wells and other water systems in Sub Saharan Africa and other nations without access to clean water. I'm so excited to be a part of this amazing organization! Let me know if you'd like to buy a case of bottled Generosity Water for your home or office, $48 for 24 bottles -- 100% going to an amazing cause! Talk about a deal.

Thanks again to all who gave towards my Uganda trip. I couldn't be more excited! I will definitely put that money to great use, and bless as many people as possible in Uganda. I will have TONS of stories and pictures to share when I get back.

Stay tuned for more updates on this incredible journey!

(Oh, and just an FYI- I'm already planning my next trip to Africa! Crazy I know :) My other church, Trinity Lutheran Church in Ventura, is planning a trip for 2010, and I am definitely going to be a part of that trip -- God willing! :) )
